We received this desk a few weeks ago (thank goodness for delivery to an upstairs apartment - the box is heavy!) and assembled it almost immediately (see below). Since that time the desk has been in use almost daily and is holding up well. Nothing has come loose, the surface is solid and doesn't move to much (on carpet) and the pen holders and drawers are functioning well. Even with the desk mostly being used by a 10 year old.Assembly wasn't "too bad" for an item like this. Other than a couple of places where you had to be careful to get bars the right way up, and trying to work out from the diagram which way the locking hinge goes, the desk was put together in about 40 minutes. Tightening up the bolts with the provided tools might be a bit tricky for some - but using tools I already had it was a snap. The trickiest part for us was really the plastic drawer assembly which, while snapping together solidly perhaps took a bit too much effort to snap together and was a little tricky to screw into the caddy provided. There are plenty of storage compartments, plus the lip at the bottom is a nice feature to stop pens rolling off. At a 30 degree angle, paper stays in place well. Therefore, even with a few niggles in assembly, for the price this is a great art desk.
